The widow of a man, who died after being hit by a water tanker, has filed a civil suit seeking more than Rs130 million in damages from the vehicle's owner and driver.

The compensation claim was filed before the court of the Senior Civil Judge (East) at the City Courts in Karachi over the death of Talha Zaheer, who was killed in March 2026.

According to the petition, a speeding water tanker ran over Talha Zaheer, inflicting fatal injuries that led to his death.

The petitioner's counsel argued that the accident was the direct result of the driver's negligence and reckless driving, making both the driver and the tanker owner legally liable for compensation.

The suit states that the deceased was the sole breadwinner of his family and that his sudden death has left his widow and dependants facing severe financial hardship and emotional distress.

The court has initiated preliminary proceedings and issued notices to the respondents, seeking their replies to the claim.
