After the shocking case of sexual abuse and WhatsApp hacking involving women came to light, Karachi police sought the help of the FIA to investigate the matter, as hundreds of inappropriate videos of women were discovered on the accused’s mobile phone. Dialogue Pakistan had earlier exposed the case after a couple got the 25-year-old serial abuser arrested.
According to sources, the city district police sent a letter to FIA authorities requesting an officer to be assigned for an effective inquiry, as the accused, identified as Sameer, was involved in cybercrime, including hacking the WhatsApp accounts of women, blackmailing them, and forcing them into sexual activities.
“He is a very clever criminal. He used to hack the social media IDs of women and then start chatting with them about sex and ask them for porn videos,” Eidgah SHO Hafeez Awan told Dialogue Pakistan.
Sameer, a resident of Rabia City Apartments in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, was arrested on November 17 after a complaint was filed against him.
“He has over 150 links in his phone which he sends to others to hack their phones. He shows women that he has an online business and even offers them money just to trap them.”
The accused had hacked the Instagram ID of a young girl, and since her profile had the number of her friend's mother’s, he contacted the woman, who later filed a complaint after discovering suspicious activity.
Initially, the accused continued to impersonate the girl’s friend and even sent a picture, after which the woman realised something was wrong. He then offered her online work and told her to communicate only through WhatsApp.
Later, he contacted the woman using a new number. She continued pretending to be a young girl after noticing his suspicious behaviour and his attempts to make inappropriate advances. She became certain that the person behind the messages was not her daughter’s friend but a man.
SHO Hafeez Awan credited the couple who reported the accused and helped the police arrest him after the woman agreed to meet him on a “date.”
Her husband supported her and encouraged her to keep talking to the man so they could trap him easily. The husband also revealed that other young girls were receiving similar messages from that number.

Sameer confessed to his crime. He studied only up to Grade VII and was unemployed. He learned hacking through an online group. According to the police, he has exploited over 100 women in the past two years.
A special investigation team, the Counter Terrorism Department, security agencies, and the FIA are all involved in probing the case, treating it as a high-profile matter.
SHO Hafeez Awan said he did not initially think the accused would be involved in such serious and heinous crimes and considered him a typical harasser, but he was shocked during the investigation when hundreds of videos were found on the accused’s phone.
“The videos are unwatchable,” he said, adding that the accused targeted women between the ages of 16 and 30. He further said the accused used to blackmail women after forcing sexual activity on them and recording the act.
The complainant couple said they have been receiving threats and offers of money in exchange for withdrawing their complaint.
