A jewellery shop in the Malir City, Karachi was looted by unidentified men who broke in and escaped with gold and cash worth millions of rupees.

According to officials, the robbery happened in Ghanchi Market, where suspects broke the shop’s locks and took away a safe containing valuables. An FIR has been registered at Malir City police station, and investigation is underway.

According to the shop owner, the stolen safe contained about 850 grams of gold and Rs1.5 million in cash, estimating the total loss at more than Rs50 million. 

Police is tracing CCTV footage from nearby cameras to identify the suspects.

Moreover, police has taken a market watchman into custody for questioning as part of the investigation. Further arrests may follow depending on evidence gathered from the crime scene and CCTV recordings, according to the police.

Initial reports indicate the robbery took place during the night, however, the crime scene unit collected forensic evidence after the shop owner reported the incident in the morning.
