KARACHI: Employees from Grades 1 to 4 in Hyderabad staged protests in Karachi, demanding the payment of their outstanding salaries, which they claim have remained unpaid for the past 38 months.
The employees, who were recruited during the previous tenure of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), travelled to Karachi to raise their concerns and demand the release of their pending salaries.
The protesters attempted to reach Bilawal House Chowrangi but were stopped by police.
They subsequently staged demonstrations outside the Sindh Assembly and the Karachi Press Club to draw the attention of the authorities to their prolonged financial hardship.
Speaking to the media, senior PPP worker Amjad Ali Chandio and other representatives said the continued non-payment of salaries had left the affected employees in severe financial distress.
They said the workers were struggling to meet their household expenses due to the prolonged delay in receiving their salaries.
The protesters appealed to the PPP leadership to take immediate notice of their situation and ensure the release of their outstanding salaries to alleviate their financial difficulties.
