Hina Javed case: Domestic worker identified as prime suspect by investigation team

RAWALPINDI: A special investigation committee formed on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has completed its reinvestigation into the murder of Hina Javed, naming domestic worker Zeeshan, who was already nominated in the case, as the prime suspect, according to sources within the investigation team.

The sources said skin particles belonging to Zeeshan were found beneath the deceased’s fingernails. The team also questioned Hina’s husband, Faisal Asghar, and Zeeshan more than four times during the investigation.

According to the sources, Zeeshan has a criminal record in other serious cases. They further claimed that he confessed to raping Hina Javed and strangling her with a bedsheet.

The investigation team maintained that no innocent person would be named as the prime suspect under pressure from anyone.

However, Hina Javed’s family has expressed a lack of confidence in the findings of the new investigation team and alleged that evidence related to the murder had been tampered with.

Sources said the committee has completed its inquiry and left for Lahore.

The murder case is registered at Civil Lines Police Station in Rawalpindi. Hina’s husband, Faisal Asghar, and domestic worker Zeeshan are currently being held at Adiala Jail on judicial remand.

The incident took place at Askari Apartments in the Lalkurti area, which falls under the jurisdiction of Civil Lines Police Station.

According to the first information report (FIR) registered on the complaint of Hina’s brother, her body was discovered in the bathroom of the residence. The FIR stated that her hands were tied behind her back, a cloth had been stuffed into her mouth, and a wire was wrapped around her neck.

Hina married Faisal Asghar, the son of retired Colonel Asghar Ali Fayyaz, in November 2025.
