ISLAMABAD: Senator Faisal Vawda has claimed that the process to disqualify Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has begun, predicting that he will be disqualified.
Speaking to a private television channel, Vawda said the newly formed KP Advisory Council had 180 days to demonstrate its performance, adding that failure would not be tolerated.
He said that if Governor Faisal Karim Kundi managed to deliver even five to 10 per cent of the expected results, the public would move towards the next phase on its own.
Vawda said the advisory council included capable individuals, but their performance would be closely monitored. He added that members who failed to deliver within 180 days could also be replaced.
The senator said he had criticised the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government during its tenure and continued to raise concerns about its performance.
Questioning the party’s achievements during its 13 years in power in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Vawda claimed that terrorism in the province had increased by 195 per cent and approximately 7,500 police personnel, military personnel and civilians had been killed.
He said the new administration would be judged on its performance rather than its promises.
“Whether it is an Rs11 billion aircraft or Rs6 billion vehicles, there will now only be delivery,” he said, adding that those who performed would remain in their positions, while those who failed could be removed.
Vawda also warned that the public would no longer tolerate the conduct of the ruling elite and would hold those in power accountable.
