Elderly couple found dead inside house in Karachi

An elderly couple was found dead with their throats slit inside a house in the North Karachi area on Wednesday, police said.

According to police officials, the bodies were found within the jurisdiction of the Sir Syed police station. The couple had moved to Pakistan from Canada some time ago.

The deceased were identified as 65 to 70-year-old Muhammad Yamin and Nafisa. Police said evidence is being collected as part of the investigation.

Rescue officials earlier said the bodies of an elderly man and a woman had been found inside the house, with apparent sharp-object wounds on their necks.

The incident comes a day after the bodies of five members of a family were found inside a house in a private housing society in Karachi’s Gulshan-i-Hadeed area.

Malir SSP Dr Abdul Khaliq Pirzada said that police had recovered a pistol from the scene and a handwritten note, described as a suicide note, from Shahzaib’s pocket. According to the initial police investigation, the family may have been facing severe financial difficulties.

Investigators suspect that the children were poisoned before the suspected suicide. Police said the Gulshan-i-Hadeed incident was being investigated from all angles.
