**LAHORE:** The police have started an inquiry after a drone loaded with a huge amount of heroin crashed at the roof of a house in the Narang Mandi locality of Sheikhupura on Sunday.

Sheikhupura District Police Officer (DPO) Bilal Zafar Sheikh has told that the law enforcement authorities quickly made the spot secure after the information of the crash of the drone in Mohalla Rafiqabad came.

The drone along with the suspected drugs was seized and the area was sealed for further investigations.

The DPO has said that the black-colored drone of about three feet length carried a packet that was covered in yellow tape along with the lights. Upon checking, it was found that the packet contained five kilograms of heroin. The law enforcement agencies have stepped up patrolling in the area as well.

It is being found by the officials whether the drone was meant for smuggling of the drugs or delivering them in some other place of Pakistan. The people behind the incident are also being traced by the investigators.

Meanwhile, security sources suggested the narcotics were likely being smuggled to a neighbouring country. They claimed such cross-border trafficking has been active for decades in parts of Lahore, Sialkot, and Kasur, with financial transactions for the illegal trade reportedly being settled through Dubai, according to previous law enforcement investigations.
