18-year-old Maham tortured to death in Lahore by family: Police

Lahore: An 18-year-old girl, identified as Maham died after being subjected to severe torture at the hands of her family in the Sanda area of Lahore, police said.

According to preliminary police findings, Maham was allegedly tortured for an extended period by her father, two brothers, and sister. On September 26, the family reportedly brought her to Gangaram Hospital in a critically injured condition. However, they allegedly left her body at the hospital and fled the scene.

Hospital authorities subsequently informed the police, who arrived and took custody of the body before launching an investigation.

Police said preliminary examination revealed multiple injuries, including marks allegedly caused by an iron rod, as well as burn-like injuries reportedly inflicted with a heated or sharp object.

A case has been registered, and police have arrested Maham’s father, two brothers, and sister in connection with the incident.

Further investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding her death and establish individual responsibility.
