WhatsApp working on major redesign for Android app

WhatsApp is developing a major redesign of its Android application, according to a report by WABetaInfo.

The revamp primarily focuses on the app’s navigation bar, which is expected to receive new updates and a refreshed appearance.

WhatsApp is reportedly set to add birthday reminders for friends, while Meta AI is also being incorporated into the app’s navigation bar.

Currently, Meta AI has a dedicated button above the compose button. Under the proposed redesign, it will also be added to the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen.

Additionally, the navigation bar is being made more transparent, giving the Android app an appearance that is more similar to its iOS counterpart.

The report noted that the redesign is still in its early stages and has appeared in a beta version of the app.

The feature is currently available to a limited number of users, and its rollout to all users could take several weeks or months.
