WhatsApp is testing a message scheduling feature that will allow users to send messages at a specified date and time, according to technology website WaBetaInfo.
The feature has appeared in WhatsApp's Android beta version 2.26.8.11 and is currently available to some beta testers.
Users can access the option by tapping and holding the send button, which opens a dialogue box to select the date and time for message delivery. A dedicated section will also allow users to manage scheduled messages before they are sent.
According to the report, messages can be scheduled from 10 minutes to two weeks in advance. They will be delivered at the selected time even if the sender's device is offline.
The feature will support text, links, photos and videos, as well as group chats. Scheduled messages will also remain protected by end-to-end encryption, the report said.
The feature could help users set recurring reminders, coordinate communications across time zones and manage business messages outside working hours.
The scheduling option is expected to become available to more Android beta testers in the coming weeks, with a wider release anticipated at a later date. Meta has yet to announce an official launch date.
