Smart ID scanning app launched

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi police has designed a new application for purposes of identification and scanning.

Through this application, the criminal record of any person, if present, can be checked instantly through the national identity card of that individual. This application will also store the data as well as photographs of all those individuals, whose CNICs are checked.

It has been revealed that through the application, the check-up process for criminals continues across the district during the days of Ashura.

The application for the purpose of ensuring the security in Rawalpindi has been developed by the police IT department, supervised by CPO Rawalpindi Khalid Hamdani.

It has been told that this new application is more advanced compared to the existing system wherein the criminal record could only be found after entering the CNIC number. There are many other features available in this application. It has been told that after the scanning of the identity card of any citizen, the system instantly reveals any criminal record associated with him/her.

The application can also assist in identifying Afghan nationals.Any entry made into the system automatically stores the citizen's photograph and complete record, enabling Rawalpindi Police to build a comprehensive database.

Police sources said scanning through the application is being carried out at entry checkpoints and bus terminals.

The app is also being used to ensure foolproof security and maintain law and order during Ashura.
