This evening, the year’s largest and brightest supermoon will grace the night sky, visible in Pakistan and many other parts of the world.

According to Suparco, the moon will reach its maximum brightness at 6:19 pm, when it will be just 221,817 miles from Earth. At this time, it is expected to appear about 9.7% larger and 16% more radiant than its normal size.

This will be the second supermoon of 2025, with the last expected to occur on December 4. This supermoon will appear brighter and larger than any since 2019.

This phenomenon occurs when the moon approaches closest to the earth in its orbit.

The origin of the beaver's name is tied to a North American cultural context as many believe beavers (a large rodent in North America and Eurasia) are intensely active to build winter dams.

With clear winter skies across much of Pakistan, viewing conditions are expected to be ideal. Experts recommend observing the moon from darker, less urbanized areas to fully appreciate the display.

Beyond its astronomical importance, the supermoon offers a visually stunning experience for the public. Suparco added that it will be visible soon after moonrise, providing a remarkable sight for sky enthusiasts and casual observers alike.
