WhatsApp has rolled out several updates in late 2025 and early 2026 aimed at enhancing user experience, particularly in group chats, missed calls, and media management.

Among the new features, group member tags allow users to add custom labels, providing context about their role in specific groups without altering their profile name. Users can now also convert text into stickers through the text-to-sticker creation feature, enabling personalised messaging.

The app has added custom event reminders, which allow organisers to schedule notifications for group calls or events, reducing the need for repeated follow-ups. For missed calls, WhatsApp now lets users send quick voice or video messages, streamlining communication when a call is not answered.

Reactions in voice chats allow participants to respond with emojis without interrupting ongoing conversations.

Additionally, AI-powered image creation and animation tools enable users to generate or animate visuals directly in chats or status updates, improving the app’s multimedia functionality.

On desktop, a new media tab consolidates documents, links, and shared media from all chats, making it easier to retrieve files.

WhatsApp’s updates reflect a focus on enhancing day-to-day messaging rather than major redesigns, offering tools that integrate seamlessly into user routines.
