Woman killed, six injured in suspected drone strike near Peshawar

A woman was killed and six members of the same family were injured in a suspected drone strike in the Pastawana area of Hassan Khel, on the outskirts of Peshawar.

Authorities have yet to confirm the origin of the drone as investigations continue.

Initial reports said all seven victims were rushed to hospital after the strike. One of the injured women was in critical condition and later succumbed to her injuries.

Meanwhile, another victim and his 15-year-old son remain under treatment at Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar.

However, the remaining injured family members were discharged after receiving medical care on Wednesday morning.

The attack occurred in the Chandoka area, located along the border between Peshawar and Kohat districts. 

Police and relevant authorities have launched an investigation to determine the nature of the strike and identify those responsible. No official statement has yet been issued regarding the source of the suspected drone.

Hassan Khel, situated on the outskirts of Peshawar, has remained a sensitive area due to frequent counterterrorism operations and militant activity, prompting heightened security and surveillance by law enforcement agencies.
