A recreational outing at Karachi's Manora beach turned tragic for six final-year students of Dow Medical College on Wednesday as strong waves swept them into the sea. Three students were rescued, while three lost their lives.
According to rescue officials, a group of 15 aspiring doctors visited Manora Beach for a private picnic when the incident occurred. Rough waves carried six students into the water, prompting immediate action from rescue teams.
Three students were saved, but the bodies of Ahmed Kashif, Asharib Munir, and Ashad were recovered.
Dow Medical College Principal Dr. Saba Sohail stated that all the victims and injured students were in their final year. She explained that around 150 students had attended an official university-organized picnic to Hawksbay, returning safely.
However, a separate group of 15 students had independently planned a private outing to Manora Beach without notifying university authorities.
