Security agencies in Karachi have successfully averted a suicide attack by rescuing a school girl on Monday.

According to the officials, the girl was trapped online and prepared for a suicide attack.

A joint press conference was held by Javed Alam Odho, senior counter terrorism department officials and Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar the home-minister of Sindh. Zia stated that timely intelligence and swift action helped counter the terrorist attack.

He further stated, “Our first priority is the protection of the child and her family. The government will extend all possible support for their rehabilitation and wellbeing,”

Lanjar urged parents to closely monitor their children’s social media activity, warning that extremist groups increasingly exploit digital platforms to spread false narratives against the state.

Azad Khan, inspector general of CTD revealed that members of the Balochistan Liberation Army had contacted the girl via Instagram and later added her to WhatsApp groups. According to him. “She was told she had been chosen for a ‘major mission”. She was later taken outside Karachi as part of the plan.

According to the reports, the girl was intercepted during a checking operation outside the city. Her family was immediately informed and assured protection of the child.

Lanjar further stated, “We want the girl to fulfill her dream of becoming a teacher and contribute positively to society.” He also said that this incident is a reminder of the dangers of online traps and the importance of close monitoring of children’s activities online.
