Skywatchers in Pakistan will be able to witness a spectacular supermoon tonight, appearing 15 percent larger and around 30 percent brighter than a typical full moon. The celestial display will begin at 8:47 pm and remain visible until sunrise tomorrow.

The moon will rise from the east and set in the west before the following morning. This will mark the first of three supermoons that people around the world are expected to observe.

Tonight’s supermoon, on October 7, will be positioned about 224,599 miles (approximately 361,457 kilometers) from Earth. The next two supermoons are expected to occur on November 5 and December 5.

According to SUPARCO, an even brighter supermoon will be visible in November, when the moon will be at a distance of 221,817 miles (around 356,980 kilometers) from Earth.

The rare astronomical event will be visible to observers worldwide, while planet Saturn will also appear in the western sky, near the moon, as it approaches its closest point tonight.
