The Sindh government has issued new directives making it mandatory for all government officers to personally pay traffic e-challans issued against official vehicles.
According to a notification released by the Provincial Services and General Administration Department, strict enforcement measures will now be applied to traffic violations committed under the “traffic suspension” mechanism.
The guidelines state that any breach of traffic rules will result in an immediate e-challan. Not wearing a seat belt has been declared a punishable offence without exception, while traffic police have been instructed to take action against vehicles with tinted windows.
The notification further emphasises that running a red signal will attract a severe penalty, and no leniency will be granted for using a mobile phone while driving.
All government departments have been directed to ensure immediate compliance with the new instructions. The provincial authorities say these measures are aimed at improving road discipline and ensuring that government officers follow the same traffic regulations as the public.
