The Sindh government on Thursday extended the deadline for the judicial commission investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of young businessman Mir Raza until October 15.
The decision was taken during a Sindh cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, where the cabinet approved an extension for submission of the commission’s report.
The cabinet was informed that the commission had conducted extensive proceedings and recorded statements from dozens of witnesses so far. The chief minister’s spokesperson said the commission had been given additional time to complete the investigation and finalise its recommendations.
The commission had earlier written to the provincial government seeking an extension until October 15 to complete recording witness statements and prepare its report.
Following the request, the Sindh Home Department had moved a summary seeking an extension of the deadline for submission of the commission’s report.
