Security forces eliminated at least 20 militants in two separate operations carried out in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on October 8 and 9, according to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement issued on Monday.

The first engagement took place during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Shawal region of North Waziristan, where troops targeted a militant hideout and sent eight Indian sponsored khwarij to hell.

In the second operation, conducted in Dara Adam Khel, 12 more militants were killed in an intense exchange of fire.

Following the operations, security personnel launched area-clearance and sanitisation measures to locate any remaining elements linked to the group.

The ISPR said the IBOs were carried out under Operation Azm-i-Istehkam, which was approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan to intensify efforts by security forces and law-enforcement agencies to dismantle foreign-sponsored terrorist networks across the country.
