Security forces destroy Afghan Taliban camp, kill personnel in response to unprovoked firing

Pakistan’s security forces, while responding to unprovoked firing by Afghan Taliban along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killed several Taliban personnel and destroyed their base camp, media reports said on Saturday, citing security sources.

According to the reports, Afghan Taliban opened fire to facilitate the cross-border infiltration of militants.

The Pakistan Army responded effectively to the firing, they said, adding that as a result, several Afghan Taliban personnel were killed near Ghozgarhi border.

In the Upper Kurram sector, Pakistani forces targeted the Afghan Taliban’s Topser post and Shipola base camp, the sources said, adding that the base camp was destroyed.

The reports said that Afghan Taliban personnel abandoned a border post following the Pakistani forces’ response.

Pakistan had carried out targeted airstrikes on alleged militant hideouts in Afghanistan earlier this month, killing several militants belonging to what the Ministry of Information described as Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan.
