The remains of a four-year-old boy who went missing in the devastating October 8, 2005 earthquake have been recovered in Mansehra, 21 years after the tragedy.
The boy's father, Qari Shafiqur Rehman, said his son, Jamal Shafiq, disappeared in the earthquake and was never found despite months of searching.
He said the child's remains were discovered beneath a pile of debris during the construction of a house. The family identified the remains through the child's clothes and shoes.
Qari Shafiqur Rehman said he was grateful to Allah that his son's remains had finally been found, even after more than two decades.
He added that eight members of the family were martyred in the 2005 earthquake.
The boy's uncle, Habibur Rehman, said the discovery revived painful memories of the disaster. Jamal Shafiq was later laid to rest in a nearby graveyard.
