Punjab cabinet approves new dates for Lahore Basant festival

The Punjab cabinet on Tuesday approved changing the dates for Basant celebrations in Lahore.

The festival will now take place from March 12 to 14, 2027, according to media reports citing official sources.

The provincial government had earlier announced a 10-day Basant schedule from January 29 to February 7, 2027. The revised dates mean the kite-flying festival will instead be celebrated over three days in March.

According to the reports, Lahore Deputy Commissioner sent a proposal to the Punjab Home Department seeking a change in the schedule. The department subsequently forwarded the summary to the provincial cabinet, which approved it.

The revised schedule sets March 12, 13 and 14, 2027, for the Basant festivities in Lahore.
