The Punjab government has announced the admission policy and fee structure for public and private medical and dental colleges for the 2026-27 academic session.

The University of Health Sciences (UHS) will oversee the centralised admission process, while passing the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) will be mandatory for admission to medical and dental colleges.

Under the merit formula, MDCAT scores will carry 50% weightage, marks obtained in the intermediate examination (FSc) 40% and matriculation results 10%. Candidates will also be required to secure at least 60% marks in FSc to qualify for admission to MBBS and BDS programmes.

Biology and chemistry will be compulsory subjects, while candidates must have passed either physics or mathematics, according to the policy.

Applicants seeking admission to public medical colleges will be required to list their preferences for all colleges. No limit has been set on the number of college preferences for candidates applying to private medical colleges.

Candidates selected on the merit lists will have three working days to deposit their admission fees.
The annual tuition fee for open-merit seats at public medical and dental colleges has been fixed at Rs50,000.
