More than 48 hours after Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur announced his resignation, confusion continues to shroud the status of his departure, with conflicting statements from both the CM and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) governor.
Gandapur insists that he has already sent his resignation to the governor, urging that “the drama should end now.” However, KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi maintains that the resignation has not yet reached his principal secretary.
“Once I receive the resignation, I will review it and make a decision,” the governor said.
According to legal experts, the governor could raise an objection if the resignation is not handwritten, which might delay its acceptance.

Meanwhile, media reports said that despite the official holiday, staff members of the KP Assembly remained present in the building. There are indications that a session may be convened today, though no official notification has been issued so far.
They also revealed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has prepared a no-confidence motion against Gandapur. If the governor does not approve the resignation, the party is expected to move forward with the motion.
The KP Assembly currently comprises 145 members, including 93 independents and 52 opposition lawmakers. A no-confidence motion against the chief minister would require at least 73 votes to pass.
