Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has issued a show cause notice to its seniour vice-president Sher Afzal Khan Marwat after the latter gave a statement against party acting chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan on a private news channel.

"It has come to the notice of the party leadership that you went against the party police and gave a statement against Barrister Gohar Ali Khan which has caused significant distress that cannot be tolerated," PTI said in a notice issued to Marwat.

In the notice, the PTI leader has been asked to issue an 'unconditional apology' within two days.

"If your reply is unsatisfactory or you do not respond, further action will be taken as per party policy and rules," it added.

A day earlier, Marwat, while giving an interview to a private news channel, said that Barrister Gohar Ali Khan was removed from the coveted post of chairmanship of the party due to his "incompetence and poor performance".

In an interview, Marwat acknowledged Gohar’s loyalty to the party and admitted that he is a good person, but he "failed to deliver a satisfactory performance as party head".

“He has lost the party’s chairmanship due to the bad performance and incompetence,” said Marwat, adding that you have to be active to run the party office, but Gohar couldn’t do this.

“Barrister Gohar has not appeared successful during his three-month tenure, as workers were wanting him to call a protest against alleged rigging in elections but he remained unsuccessful,” Imran Khan's lawyer added.
