Islamabad launches Pakistan’s first AI-powered online women police station

The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police on Tuesday inaugurated the country’s first fully operational Online Women Police Station, a digital initiative aimed at providing round-the-clock protection and immediate access to justice for women, children, and other vulnerable groups.

The newly launched service is accessible via a dedicated helpline (1815), which enables women to report incidents, seek legal guidance, and receive assistance without needing to visit a physical police station. According to an ICT Police spokesperson, the platform is equipped to handle cases related to domestic violence, gender-based crimes, and abuse against minors.

Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi stated that the service includes features such as video calling and online chat support, allowing for remote registration of First Information Reports (FIRs), which are then delivered directly to complainants at their homes.

A specially trained First Responder Unit has been deployed to respond to distress calls within five to seven minutes. In cases where on-site resolution is not possible, female investigation officers are dispatched to ensure timely action.

All call handlers, responders, and investigating officers operating the 1815 helpline are women, ensuring a gender-sensitive and secure environment for complainants. Rizvi added that emergency calls to the general police helpline (15) are automatically redirected to the women’s helpline using artificial intelligence, guaranteeing no distress call is missed.

The initiative is integrated with ICT Police’s AI-backed “Police Station-on-Wheels” service, which can be dispatched alongside responders when required.
