Karachi is experiencing a temperature surge with plenty of sunshine today as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted further rise in mercury in the coming days.
According to the PMD, daytime temperatures are expected to rise up to 38°C, while nighttime lows may fall to around 22°C.
The “real feel” temperature in daylight matches the maximum at 38°C, slightly dropping to 36°C in shaded areas. Officials have advised citizens to avoid direct sunlight, particularly during afternoon hours.
Health experts have also emphasized the importance of staying hydrated and protecting against intense ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Westerly winds blowing at 9 km/h, combined with a high UV index of 6.0, are contributing to the oppressive daytime heat.
Meteorologists have warned that the heat is likely to persist for several days. The PMD has urged residents to limit outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours, as prolonged exposure and low humidity can increase the risk of heat exhaustion and dehydration.
