Senior journalist Farhan Malick has claimed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made 28 foreign trips in one year, averaging more than two visits per month.

He made this claim during a podcast on his social media outlet, Raftar.

Malick also made claims regarding Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s foreign travel.

Malick, citing another journalist Benazir Shah's research, claimed reports suggest that poverty in Punjab has risen to 41%, but the number of overseas visits she has undertaken is over 10 visits.

The claim has raised questions about the frequency of the prime minister’s overseas engagements, their objectives, and the tangible benefits they have delivered for the country.

The issue has also drawn attention to the government’s performance, with questions being raised about its progress on key economic and governance challenges despite nearly four years in power.

Critics argue that the outcomes of such frequent foreign visits should be assessed in terms of concrete achievements, including investment, economic cooperation, and benefits for the public.
