PM Sharif takes notice of Laiba Ejaz’s death, orders immediate arrest

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken notice of the tragic death of Laiba Ejaz, a student who dreamed of securing admission to an American university in Islamabad, and ordered the immediate arrest of the suspect.

Meanwhile, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has also launched proceedings following a request from the victim’s family.

The prime minister has directed the Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Chief Commissioner to ensure the suspect’s immediate arrest and ensure that he is punished in accordance with the law.

Following the prime minister’s directives, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry visited Laiba Ejaz’s family to offer their condolences.

During the visit, they expressed their sympathies to Laiba’s father, who broke down in tears and embraced the interior minister. Islamabad Chief Commissioner Sohail Ashraf also accompanied them.

Addressing a press conference, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that everyone involved in the incident would be apprehended soon.

He added that efforts would also be made to recover the money and ensure that those responsible were punished.

Naqvi said the suspect had taken money in the name of employment and other matters, adding that appropriate action would be taken to address the issue.

He expressed confidence that the police would succeed in the case, while the FIA was also actively pursuing the matter.

He further stated that the suspect would be arrested soon and that the government was working to reduce such crimes. He also noted that the European Union had appreciated the government’s efforts.
