Authorities have seized a Pakistan cargo ship docked at Beira Port in Mozambique over the non-payment of financial dues.
The ship’s crew have also been detained, according to the ship’s captain.
Captain Aslam said that the ship’s crew is facing severe hardship due to a shortage of basic supplies. “We have run out of food and water.
The air conditioning system is no longer working, and emergency lights may also shut down soon. Communication via mobile phone will not be possible shortly,” he warned.

The situation escalated after outstanding dues related to the ship, identified as Gas Flek, were not cleared, prompting Mozambican authorities to detain the vessel and take the crew into custody.
Captain Aslam has urgently appealed to the Government of Pakistan for immediate intervention.
“We request the Pakistani government to take swift action for the release of the crew and vessel to prevent a major humanitarian crisis,” he said.
