PAF’s JF-17 Block-III jets arrive in Azerbaijan for joint aerial exercise ‘Indus Shield Alpha’

A contingent of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), featuring its state-of-the-art JF-17 Thunder Block-III fighter jets along with a team of experienced air and ground crew, has arrived in Azerbaijan to take part in the bilateral aerial combat exercise ‘Indus Shield Alpha.’
According to a statement of the Director General Public Relations (Air Force), the PAF aircraft completed a non-stop flight from Pakistan to Azerbaijan, showcasing remarkable operational capability through flawless in-flight air-to-air refuelling operations.
“The intricate mid-air refuelling operation, executed with utmost precision by PAF’s own IL-78 aerial tanker, reaffirmed the long-range capability of PAF fighter jets and demonstrated the professional excellence and preparedness of PAF aircrew for extended international missions,” the statement said.

The ‘Indus Shield Alpha’ exercise is designed to enhance mutual understanding, tactical coordination, and interoperability between the air forces of Pakistan and Azerbaijan. It will focus on modern aerial warfare tactics, joint mission planning, and execution amid evolving airpower and technological advancements.
The statement said that the exercise would serve as an important platform for both countries to exchange operational knowledge and develop collaborative responses to emerging aerial defence challenges.
“The participation of the Pakistan Air Force contingent in Exercise Indus Shield Alpha reaffirms PAF’s enduring commitment to regional stability and global military cooperation,” it addD. The deployment reflects the force’s “unwavering resolve to adapt to the demands of modern warfare while upholding its tradition of excellence."
