NCCIA seeks 120 Sindh policemen to expand cybercrime operations

KARACHI: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has decided to increase its manpower for the establishment of new cybercrime centres across Sindh.

The NCCIA has sought the services of officers and personnel from the Sindh Police to strengthen its operations.

The NCCIA Sindh Zone has written to its Director General seeking approval for the proposed deployment, according to sources.

The agency has requested 120 police officers and personnel from Sindh Police, including 12 inspectors and 24 sub-inspectors.

The request also includes 12 female sub-inspectors and 12 assistant sub-inspectors, along with 50 head constables and constables and 10 female constables.

According to sources, the Karachi Range has been asked to provide the largest share, with 55 officers and personnel sought from the range.

The NCCIA has requested 16 personnel each from the Hyderabad and Sukkur police ranges. Police personnel have also been sought from the Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad and Mirpurkhas ranges.

The proposed personnel may be deployed to the NCCIA on deputation or through transfers, sources said.

The additional manpower has been sought in view of the growing number of cybercrime complaints and investigations, according to sources.
