The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday conducted a public acution of six commercial properties linked to Bahria Town and its Chairman Malik Riaz Hussain.

In a statement, the national graft buster said that the auction was held to "recover defaulted funds from a court-approved plea bargain of 2019."

Sharing what it said the "key outcomes" of today's auction, the NAB said that the real estate firm's Rubaish Marquee was successfully auctioned for Rs508 million, which is Rs20 million higher than the reserved price. "Payment and transfer process is now underway," it added.

It said that Bahria Town's Corporate Office-I received conditional offers of Rs876 million while Corporate Office -II recieved conditional offers of Rs881 million.

"Final approval is pending from NAB's Competent Authority," the statement added.

"Three properties remained unsold due to lack of qualifying bids. A re-auction will be announced soon."

The NAB said that it remained committed to "transparent recovery of public funds and strict enforcement of accountability laws."
