Mushtaq Ahmed reveals he received ‘no response’ from JI during his Sumud Flotilla journey

Former senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan revealed that he decided to resign from Jamaat-e-Islami with a heavy heart, reflecting on his long-standing affiliation with the party. He expressed disappointment that no one from JI contacted him or responded while he was on the Global Sumud Flotilla, a convoy of ships that sailed to Gaza to break the Israeli siege.

Mushtaq Ahmed appeared on a talk show following his return from Israeli detention. He explained that the Jordanian embassy had helped the activists cross the border into Israel.

He emphasised that the real credit for the release of the Global Sumud Flotilla activists goes to the protesters in European countries, who took to the streets immediately after Israeli forces intercepted the flotilla ships and detained the activists on board.

Speaking about his resignation from Jamaat-e-Islami, Mushtaq Ahmed revealed that he received “no response” from the party during his journey on the flotilla.

The former senator added that he would now dedicate his activism to human rights, focusing on calling out oppression and working for the cause of humanity.

Ex-senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, who led the Pakistani delegation on the Global Sumud Flotilla, was released on Monday from an Israeli prison after being detained along with other international activists as they set sail to Gaza in September.
