The Punjab government has handed over more than 15 electric buses to the district administration of Murree as part of its efforts to promote eco-friendly public transport.

This move is aimed at reducing environmental pollution and improving travel facilities for residents and tourists.

Speaking to the media, Murree Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi said the project marks a significant step towards introducing modern, eco-friendly public transport in one of Pakistan's most popular tourist destinations.

Shirazi further claimed that new fleet will provide residents and millions of domestic and international tourists who visit Murree each year with safe, comfortable and affordable transportation.

As part of the project, dedicated electric charging stations will also be established to ensure uninterrupted operations.

The buses are expected to run on major roads, tourist routes and other high-traffic areas across Murree, offering an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional public transport.

Shirazi said the Punjab government is prioritising Murree's development through modern urban infrastructure and sustainable initiatives.

Officials believe the initiative will not only improve public transport services but also strengthen Murree's appeal as a cleaner and more sustainable tourist destination.
