At least three people have lost their lives and more than 24 others were injured in separate incidents related to kite flying and chasing stray kites during Basant celebrations in Lahore, rescue officials said on Saturday.
According to rescue officials, a 25-year-old man, identified as Rashid, was electrocuted near Sukh Nahar while attempting to catch a stray kite after coming into contact with an electricity pole. In another tragic incident, 18-year-old Zain, the only brother of two sisters, died after falling from a rooftop in Madina Colony, Baghbanpura, while chasing a kite.
In a separate incident, a 35-year-old man, Saad, lost his life after jumping during kite flying and falling into a street, sustaining fatal injuries.
Meanwhile, in Sabzazar, a man, his brother, and nephew were critically injured after receiving electric shocks while attempting to retrieve a kite. The injured were rushed to Jinnah Hospital, where they are reported to be under medical treatment.
Authorities have once again urged citizens to exercise caution and refrain from dangerous practices associated with kite flying, as such incidents continue to pose serious threats to public safety.
