During recent heavy rains in Karachi, two brothers died from electrocution in Shah Faisal Colony, while three others lost their lives after drowning in water-filled pits and a canal, bringing the total number of casualties to 15.

According to details, the incident of electrocution occurred in Sector 4 of Shah Faisal Colony, where the two brothers fell into water accumulated on the road during the rain.

A mobile phone video of the incident went viral on social media, showing both brothers submerged in the water, with bystanders struggling to rescue them.

SHO Shah Faisal Colony, Imtiaz Hussain, confirmed that the incident took place on Tuesday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as 21-year-old Murad and 12-year-old Siraj, sons of Sultan.

Initial investigations suggest the electrocution was caused by an underground electric cable, and further inquiry is underway.

The funeral prayers for the brothers were held on Wednesday in Shah Faisal Colony, after which they were buried in the local cemetery amid widespread grief.

The joint burial and the tragic loss shook the community deeply, leaving many women devastated.

Separately, near the Northern Bypass in Gulshan-e-Mimar, the body of a teenage boy was recovered from a water-filled pit. According to Edhi spokespersons, the police completed formalities on-site and transferred the body to Edhi’s morgue.

The boy’s identity remains unknown, but his age is estimated to be around 15 years.

Two other drowned bodies were recovered—one from a water-filled pit near Site Super Highway New Sabzi Mandi Service Road and another from a canal near New Karachi Khaymiso Goth.

According to Chhipa officials, volunteers transferred both bodies to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for official procedures. Both victims remain unidentified, with estimated ages around 65 years.

In Orangi Town, Sector 7, a mutilated body was found near a canal. Police responded to the report and sent the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for further investigation. Orangi Town police said the body appeared to be a few months old, and the cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem report.
