An investigation into a double murder in Karachi's Korangi Industrial Area, Bilal Colony, has raised serious questions about transparency in the Sindh Police recruitment process.

The arrested suspect, Danish, was a former police officer who was dismissed from the force after his past criminal record came to light.

In 2015, the Jackson police arrested him for kidnapping, and that same year, the Ferozabad police apprehended him for robbery.

Despite this record, he managed to join the police force in 2017.

The situation took a bizarre turn when Danish himself was arrested after an encounter with police the following year, after his recruitment.

Moreover, two separate cases were registered against him under the Arms and Explosives Act. These findings prompted authorities to dismiss the suspect from the force.

This is not an isolated incident. In the past, other individuals linked to criminal activity have been found to be associated with the Sindh police.

The Sindh government has made little to no efforts to address these issues.

Earlier on April 19, Jacobabad police intercepted a major operation transporting a large quantity of heavy weapons from Balochistan to the Shikarpur area, a region notorious for dacoit activity. The smugglers included one Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and two other police officers.

A case was registered against the cops under Section 23(i) of the Sindh Arms Act and Anti-Terrorism Act.

Adviser to the Sindh Chief Minister, Allah Dino Bhayo (also known as Babal Khan Bhayo), resigned after it was discovered that the ammunition was being transported in his vehicle.

In another incident, Karachi police arrested Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Umair Tariq Bajari in November, 2023, after he was implicated in Karachi's Orangi Town robbery case.
