Journalist Azaz Syed claimed that an Israeli diplomat once revealed his government had established contacts with former prime minister Imran Khan, adding that Khan avoids openly condemning Israel because of his past association with his ex-wife Jemima Goldsmith’s family.
A recent clip of Azaz Syed went viral online, showing him speaking on a talk show where he recalled attending an event abroad. During that event, an Israeli diplomat reportedly said, “We, in Israel, invested a lot in Imran Khan and had high expectations from him, but he did not perform as we anticipated.”
Syed further mentioned that the same Israeli diplomat also spoke about a meeting with former army chief General Pervez Musharraf. The Israeli envoy expressed willingness to improve relations with Muslim countries.
“You will notice Imran Khan never issues a strong statement against Israel,” Azaz Syed said, “because his former in-laws maintain deep ties with that country.”
Earlier, Jamaat-e-Islami chief Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman had urged Imran Khan to condemn Israel and issue a strong message against the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
Although Khan has not released any statement from prison, his party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), responded sharply to Jamaat-i-Islami emir Hafiz Naeem’s remarks.
The PTI maintained that Imran Khan has consistently supported the Palestinian cause and the two-state solution. The party warned Hafiz Naeem against questioning their leader’s faith and integrity.
