Information ministry rubbishes Afghan claims of destroying Pakistani post

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has dismissed Afghanistan’s claim that Afghan Taliban destroyed a Pakistani post near Spin Boldak.

The ministry said that Pakistan's security forces foiled an attempted Afghan aggression in the Gulistan sector on the night of September 24/25. At least 13 Afghan Taliban personnel were killed and several others wounded during the fighting and subsequent action against Taliban positions, it added.

The ministry also released video footage, saying it showed the border clash and the action that followed. Pakistani authorities said the footage had also been widely circulated by local media and on social media.

Afghanistan has given a different account of the incident. Its Defence Ministry said a Pakistani military post near Spin Boldak had been destroyed after Pakistani forces opened fire, while claiming that Afghan forces suffered no casualties or damage.

Pakistan’s information ministry dismissed the Afghan version as fake and fabricated, saying that Kabul is trying to portray Pakistan’s account as propaganda.
