ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has presented evidence countering misleading videos circulating on social media regarding unrest in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

According to the ministry, misleading claims about the law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are being spread on social media.

Videos of protests against power outages and footage from the evening are being shared with misleading captions.

The ministry said false videos and images were being used to create an impression of widespread chaos. It also claimed that Afghan and Indian social media accounts were amplifying the misleading narrative.

According to the ministry, these activities indicate an organised propaganda campaign allegedly backed by foreign elements.

It is pertinent to mention that an announcement regarding the imposition of an emergency and governor's rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was made a day earlier.

Following the announcement, misleading videos continued to circulate on social media. However, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting presented evidence against the videos on Monday.
