Indian forces allegedly killed and injured several goats near Zero Point, the land border crossing in Tharparkar district of Sindh, in an incident that local livestock owners have condemned as “inhumane” and “unprovoked.”
According to the livestock owners, the incident occurred on Friday evening in the village of Sunrani in Dehly tehsil. They claimed that while straying livestock are typically returned, Indian forces this time “attacked the animals brutally.”
At least five goats were reportedly killed, while 15 others sustained injuries, with their legs allegedly cut using a sharp tool.
The development comes amid heightened tensions between Pakistan and India following the recent four-day conflict triggered by an attack on tourists in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
New Delhi had accused Pakistan of backing the attack, which killed 26 civilians, while Islamabad strongly denied the allegation, calling India’s claims “unsubstantiated and politically motivated.”
In the aftermath, both sides exchanged cross-border fire and air strikes before agreeing to a ceasefire on May 10, following mediation by the United States.
