In Gilgit Baltistan’s Ghizer district, Shandur Pass experienced over two feet of snowfall within the last 24 hours, plunging the region into cold weather. Consequently, residents of Shandur voiced grievances over power and gas supply suspensions.

Similarly, intermittent snowfall and rainfall in Abbottabad, KP, led to road closures, causing inconvenience for locals. Nathia Gali witnessed a layer of one-foot snow, rendering major roads like Murree Road impassable for commuters.

Meanwhile, Lower Dir observed heavy snowfall for the second consecutive day, with Shahi receiving more than one foot of snow along the border area.

The Chief Meteorologist at the Pakistan Meteorological Department, Dr. Sardar Sarfaraz, predicted a fresh spell of rain, hailstorms, and snow across the country starting from February 25. Karachi and Balochistan are also expected to experience light showers accompanied by thunderstorms.

Dr. Sarfaraz anticipated substantial rains lasting till March or even extending into April due to westerly waves. Additionally, he forecasted snowfall in northern hill areas during this period, which would help alleviate fog and smog across the country.
