A massive fire broke out on the second floor of the City Court building late last night, destroying hundreds of legal case records and causing significant damage to the structure, including parts of the F and G blocks.

According to court staff, the blaze is believed to have been caused by an electrical short circuit. The fire quickly spread, engulfing office equipment and irreplaceable court documents stored inside various rooms.

Officials stated that the records belonged primarily to the District East courts and were kept near the elevator, an area that was heavily damaged in the incident. Both the elevator and the adjacent storage areas were completely gutted by the flames, resulting in the loss of hundreds of files and case histories.

The fire broke out between 2:00 and 2:30 AM. By the time the fire brigade arrived, the elevator and all the case records stored nearby had already been destroyed, said one staff member on condition of anonymity.

The fire has also left F and G blocks of the court without electricity, hampering ongoing legal proceedings and daily operations. Structural damage has been reported in the F Block, though a full assessment is still pending.

Earlier, on December 3, a terrible fire broke out in the Rimpa Plaza located on MA Jinnah Road in Karachi. Fire brigade personnel were busy extinguishing the fire while windows were broken to rescue people trapped on the fourth floor of the building.

The flames of fire which broke out on the fourth floor have intensified.
