The SUPARCO has announced that the final supermoon of 2025, also called cold moon, will be visible in the country during the night of December 4–5.

The full moon will rise across the country at about 16:58 PST on December 4, already nearly full (around 99.2 percent illuminated), and will reach peak brightness at about 04:15 PST on December 5, when illumination hits approximately 99.8 percent.

A “supermoon”, technically a full moon occurring when the Moon is at its closest point to Earth, it appears slightly larger and brighter than a usual full moon.

For this Cold Moon, SUPARCO notes the Earth–Moon distance will be about 357,218 km, a bit farther than November’s supermoon (which was about 356,978 km away), yet still close enough for the moon to look roughly 7.9 percent larger and around 15 percent brighter than an average full moon.

December’s Cold Moon is the third and last supermoon of 2025, following October’s Harvest Moon and November’s Beaver Moon.

SUPARCO has encouraged astronomy enthusiasts, families and the public at large to step outside, no telescope needed, and enjoy the rare celestial show, provided skies remain clear.

Whether you watch from the roof of your home, a local park, or away from city lights, the Cold Moon promises a splendid, easily visible spectacle, a natural wonder to close out the supermoon season of 2025.
