Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan leader Dr Farooq Sattar has approached the Sindh Information Commission seeking to make the judicial commission's inquiry report on the Gul Plaza tragedy public.

Dr Sattar, along with Advocate Tariq Mansoor, submitted an application demanding access to the complete investigation report and proceedings of the Gul Plaza inquiry commission.

He stated that the Gul Plaza incident remains one of the most tragic events in Karachi, in which more than 84 people were killed and over 200 injured, while affected families are still awaiting justice.

Dr Sattar said the four-volume inquiry report reportedly contains findings of negligence by several government officials and institutions, but has not been made public despite repeated demands from victims and citizens.

He stressed that under the Sindh Transparency and Right to Information Act 2016, citizens have a legal right to access such information, and urged authorities to release all relevant documents in the interest of transparency and accountability.

The MQM-P leader expressed hope that the Sindh Information Commission would issue directives for the public release of the report to ensure accountability and justice for the victims.
