The lawyer of Faiz Hameed, former chief of ISI, assured that Faiz will not testify against any case against Imran Khan, after widespread media speculation regarding it.

Mian Ali Ashfaq, the lawyer, called the widespread media claims “speculative, baseless and completely unfounded.”

He claimed that there was “no truth whatsoever” to claims circulating in political and media circles.

The response came after statements were made from various federal ministers and Senator Faisal Vawda. They claimed that Faiz Hameed would become the approver in cases linked to Imran Khan, particularly the cases from the violent protests of May 9, 2023.

The 9th May protests arose after the arrest of Imran Khan and ended up in attacks on military installations across the country.

Defence minister Khawaja Asif and information minister Attaullah Tarar, have repeatedly claimed the unrest was the result of a coordinated plan involving Imran Khan and Faiz Hameed.

These repeated claims came after Faiz Hameed was sentenced to a 14-year sentence by military court recently, however, Ashfaq assured that there was “no question” of his client becoming an approver.

The ISPR, however, has not publicly confirmed any connection between Imran Khan and Faiz Hamid. Meanwhile, the issue remains politically charged, with no official confirmation in place.
