‘Even a fake pregnancy lasted 9 months’: Samina Pasha’s dig at Imam-ul-Haq for 'faking injury'

Pakistan opener Imam-ul-Haq’s injury during the team’s tour of England has sparked discussion on social media, with journalist Samina Pasha making a sarcastic remark about the controversy.

In a post shared on X, Pasha drew a comparison between Imam-ul-Haq’s injury and a recent incident in Karachi involving a woman who allegedly pretended to be pregnant for nine months.

The woman was brought to a hospital in Nazimabad for a delivery operation after her family believed she had completed nine months of pregnancy. Her family reportedly had an ultrasound report showing a 38-week pregnancy.

However, after the operation, the family discovered that there was no baby in the woman’s womb. The incident triggered a commotion at the hospital, with the family accusing the facility of making the baby disappear. Police subsequently arrived at the scene.

According to preliminary police findings, the woman had allegedly falsely claimed to be pregnant. Police said she had been married for three years and that other women in her family had become mothers, which allegedly prompted her to make similar claims about herself.

Pasha referred to the incident while taking a sarcastic swipe at the controversy surrounding Imam-ul-Haq’s injury.

The Pakistan batter’s injury has also been discussed by analyst Dr Noman Ejaz, who questioned how Imam could have suffered a Grade 1 muscle tear while standing in the slips.

According to Ejaz, a Grade 1 muscle tear generally occurs through stretching or twisting. He also claimed that Imam had suffered at least six unexpected injuries during his international career.

Ejaz further referred to an incident during England’s 2022 tour of Pakistan, claiming that a physiotherapist had told him Imam did not want to open the batting in the Multan Test and was planning to use an injury as an excuse. Imam subsequently batted at No. 5 instead of opening

However, Ejaz clarified that he was not claiming Imam was falsely reporting his current injury. He said previous incidents had contributed to a perception surrounding the batter’s injury history.
